A Living Room with Effortless Warmth

This living room strikes the balance most family rooms are chasing: styled enough to photograph and relaxed enough to live in. Why the room works

The green wall is the smart move. Painting the media wall a muted sage does two things: it turns the television into a dark rectangle on a colored ground, where it recedes, and it gives the rest of the room a reason to be warm. The terracotta pillows, the color-blocked hem on the curtains, and the bowl of lemons on the sideboard all answer that green.
